Each class has a music lesson once a week. The school has recently subscribed to the Charanga Music School which is a modern digital resource to help teach the Primary curriculum. Lessons include singing, improvisation with percussion instruments and musical appreciation and composition.br>
Singing practice is held on a weekly basis for the whole school. There is a school choir which performs in productions and concerts, both in school and in the community. We also have a school rock band which plays for school events and concerts.

If you wish your child to learn to play an instrument there is a charge which is determined at the beginning of each academic year. Instrumental lessons take place during the school day. Mr C Dunlop currently teaches brass once a week. We do have a selection of brass instruments which can be borrowed from school free of charge.

Piano lessons are taught by Ms Ord.

Some children use the UVHS Primary Tuition Scheme which offers the opportunity to learn a variety of other instruments. In 2016, the cost was approximately £45 a term and this covered the tuition from a senior music student as well as the loan of an instrument.
