Community development is fundamental to our key aims and the school is continually seeking ways to develop and improve its links with the wider community locally, nationally and globally.
Whenever possible the school is involved in local events such as Ulverston Lantern Procession, Cumbria in Bloom, Lakes Got Talent, the Canal Re-generation Group events and the Ulverston Flag Festival. As well as being involved in national fundraising campaigns such as Comic Relief, Children in Need and Sport Relief, the pupils also raise money for other charities and local good causes.
Community members are invited to some school events and we encourage them to support the school in a range of activities.
In the past, the Prince’s Trust and pupils from Year 11 at UVHS have worked with both schools to re-develop the wildlife area, reinstating our pond and re-planting.
The school also has links with the Manchester Camerata and the children have been able to work with professional musicians on different arts projects. Several of these projects culminated in performances at the Coronation Hall.
Local community groups including Adult Education, Croftlands Brownies, Croftlands Community Church, Furness Bach Choir, a local driving school, Ulverston Evening Townswomen’s Guild and Ulverston Artists use the school’s facilities outside of school hours.
