In delivering the school curriculum cross curricular links are exploited wherever possible and practicable. Ability setting is currently used for Mathematics throughout the year in both Upper and Lower School.
In all other lessons children work in mixed ability classes although work is differentiated to cater for individual progress at all levels. Children may work individually, in groups or in whole class activities to provide the best opportunities for learning and development generally.
The style of lessons may vary according to context and the needs of the pupils involved. The best interests of the children are the determining factor in all work planned. Class organisation is dependent upon the number of children in each year group and we currently have three mixed age classes in Years 3 and 4 and two mixed age classes in Years 5 and 6.
